Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: May 3, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how you may use the Contexo platform, dashboard, APIs, and embedded chat widgets (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy, and we may report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
1. Prohibited content
You must not upload, ingest, generate, or transmit through the Service any content that:
- Is unlawful or promotes unlawful activity.
- Sexually exploits or endangers minors (CSAM is reported to the appropriate authorities and account-terminated immediately).
- Promotes terrorism, violence, self-harm, or hate against people on the basis of protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.).
- Constitutes harassment, bullying, doxxing, or non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Infringes intellectual property rights you do not hold or have permission to use.
- Is defamatory or knowingly false in a way intended to harm a person or organization.
- Contains malware, exploits, or other harmful code.
2. Prohibited uses
You must not use the Service to:
- Build a chatbot that impersonates a real person or organization without authorization in a way likely to deceive.
- Generate or disseminate disinformation in election, public-health, or other high-stakes contexts.
- Provide regulated professional advice (legal, medical, financial, tax, etc.) without appropriate disclaimers and licensing.
- Make decisions about an individual that have legal or similarly-significant effects (employment, credit, housing, insurance, benefits, education) without meaningful human review.
- Conduct biometric identification, social scoring, or any use prohibited by the EU AI Act or analogous law.
- Send spam, phishing, scams, or any unsolicited bulk communication.
- Circumvent rate limits, plan quotas, domain allow-lists, or any other technical restriction.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract our services in ways not permitted by the Terms.
- Resell raw access to the underlying LLM or use the Service to build a directly competing chatbot platform.
3. Visitor data and consent
If you embed the widget on a website that processes personal data of EU/UK/EEA/India/California (or other regulated) visitors, you are responsible for:
- Disclosing that the chat is powered by AI.
- Obtaining any consent required by GDPR, the UK GDPR, the DPDP Act, the CCPA/CPRA, or other applicable law.
- Ensuring you have a lawful basis for the conversation data we process on your behalf.
- Honoring data-subject requests (access, deletion, etc.) for your visitors. We will assist in good faith.
4. Sensitive data
Do not upload or train chatbots on:
- Government IDs, full payment-card numbers, or unhashed passwords.
- Protected health information (PHI) under HIPAA. Contexo is not a HIPAA Business Associate.
- Information that would be regulated under PCI-DSS, FERPA, or similar regimes that require specific security certifications we do not hold.
If you believe you need to process such data, contact legal@contexo.ai first to discuss whether the Service is appropriate.
5. Security
- Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except in good-faith research disclosed to security@contexo.ai.
- Do not interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or the data it contains.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or networks.
- Keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
6. AI safety
- Do not configure system prompts that instruct the chatbot to ignore its safety guardrails, deceive users about being an AI, or produce prohibited content.
- Do not use the Service to generate content that the underlying model providers prohibit (see the Google Gemini usage policy). Their policy applies to traffic you send through us.
7. Reporting violations
Report suspected AUP violations — including abuse via a widget — to abuse@contexo.ai. Please include URL, widget ID (if known), and a description.
8. Enforcement
We may, at our discretion and with or without notice depending on severity, (a) remove offending content, (b) suspend or terminate the responsible account, (c) deny access to specific features, or (d) cooperate with law enforcement. We do not guarantee any particular remedy.
9. Updates
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notice. Your continued use of the Service after the "Last updated" date constitutes acceptance.
